Well, unfortunately we live in a society (not just unique to South Africa) whereby there are undesirable elements active that take advantage of people’s good will. We were surprised during our research into this market that there are a small number of individuals who seek animals (all types) to use for such horrible things such as dog fighting, meat produce etc. We were appalled by such behavior and are operating this site in such a way to make sure our website does not become a vehicle for such atrocities. To this regard, we have put in place a very unique process whereby there is constant back and forth communication between the person who listed the missing animal and the person who found it. This way we can ensure that both parties are happy that each other is genuine. If at any time you feel the person may have ulterior motives, we suggest you contact us or end the process immediately and block that person from future postings to your listing.
All the bad stuff aside, we at petslostandfound are looking forward to making the process of finding your beloved pets easier and less stressful than it currently is.

We aim to become a web portal for lost pets, a resource where people can come add their lost pets and get exposure throughout the country.
The process for adding a pet is easy.
1. Come to www.petslostandfound.co.za
2. Click the “Add a lost pet” link in the menu
3. If you have not registered on the site before, just fill out your details and move to the next screen.
4. Add the details about your pet, including name, colour and size
5. Choose the listing type best suited to you.
6. Make your payment
7. Confirm your details
That’s all! After a short while your listing will be come available to a community of thousands of like minded people all willing to help you find your pet.
If you have come to the site because you have a found a lost animal, the process is just as easy.
1. Come to www.petslostandfound.co.za
2. Click the “Have you found a pet?” link in the menu
3. Select the criteria of the pet you have found (it can be either very specific or if you are not sure, just select a few general options)
4. The database will display the best match based on your criteria
5. Once you are sure you have matched the pet to the listing in the database you can use our unique anonymous communication process to verify both the pet and the integrity of the owner.
6. Use the “distinct feature or behavior” information as a way of determining whether the other party does in fact know the pet.
7. Once everyone is happy, then a meeting place and time can be arranged.
Remember we are pet owners too and know how important they are!
